Fame Fire Company No. 3
Station 53
The Fame Fire Company (Station 53) is the youngest of the three 100% volunteer fire companies that make up the West Chester Fire Department. Founded in 1838, the Fame began in its original quarters on East Market Street before moving to its current location at East Rosedale Avenue and South Matlack Streets in West Goshen Township.
The Fame is the dedicated ladder/truck company and heavy rescue company for the West Chester Fire Department. The Fame is also an integral part of The Chester County Rescue Task Force and is the lead company for swift-water, trench, and structural collapse technical rescue disciplines. They also operate in a support role for the rope/high-angle and confined space technical rescue disciplines. The Fame houses five pieces of apparatus and four support pieces; a 137' ladder, heavy rescue, engine, squad, utility, two boats, and two technical rescue trailers.
